Designer Diary: Introducing the New Team
In the past year Morgan Designs has grown by leaps and bounds and quite honestly, has become too much for me to handle on my own. In 2014 I took on a record number of new clients and it quickly became apparent that I needed help. And so, for the past few months, I have been relying heavily on two fellow designers to tackle my overflow work, my very own little secret weapons.
It is now a brand new year, and so for 2015 I have decided these ladies don’t need to be a secret any longer – in fact, I am proud to announce, that Morgan Designs is officially a trio. Allow me to introduce you to two amazing women, who have been my support system both in business and in life: Feleesha Sterling and Alaina Akens. To check out their professional “autobios”, visit the “About Us” page. I’ve written these because I feel I need to brag on these girls for saving my year and making me look like superwoman.
Feleesha Sterling is a User Experience Designer in Charlotte, NC who, with her near decade of professional design experience, has worked for big name companies including Belk and Steele Rubber.
Feleesha and I first met while working for the newspaper The East Tennessean while in college. Our friendship and work chemistry was so palpable even back then that we would occasionally tackle contract gigs together for small businesses in the area including Johnson City’s Tri-Cities Sports magazine.
It is very rare in this business to find people who are skilled, reliable and just plain fun to work with – but after knowing her now for over 10 years, I can confidently say that Feleesha is truly one-of-a-kind and I feel unspeakably fortunate just to know her and even more honored to call this work colleague my friend.
She has a Master’s in Interactive Media and a Bachelor’s in Journalism.
Her professional skills include, user experience, social media, brand images, market research, writing copies and creating electronic and print content.

At the ripe old age of 16, following in her older sister’s footsteps, Alaina discovered her passion for graphic design and writing in the yearbook room of her high school.
Fast forward nearly a decade and Alaina has compiled quite the impressive resume having worked for a multitude of newspapers, magazines and numerous small businesses as a professional editor, columnist and graphic designer.
She’s also racked up a few Tennessee Press Association awards along the way including: “2014 Make-Up and Appearance”, “2014 Best Special Issue or Section”, “2014 Community Lifestyles” and “2014 Best Graphics and/or Illustrations.”
Today, the highly-talented Alaina works for one of the top ranked newspapers in the state, The Chattanooga Times Free Press where her layouts frequent the front page. And of course in her spare time, she helps her big sister out here at Morgan Designs.
Alaina has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a minor in Digital Media.
